WS29: Creating a full featured spatial data infrastructure around QGIS and PostGIS

Trainers: Marco Hugentobler (Sourcepole), Dr. Horst Düster (Sourcepole)

Schedule: Tuesday Morning 9-13

Places: 30

Abstract:

QGIS is well known as a user friendly desktop GIS. However, with the help of some related tools (PostGIS, QGIS Server, QGIS Webclient), the step to create a service based geodata infrastructure (GDI) is not too far. In the workshop, we show how to set up and configure the relevant components. A major advantage of a GDI with QGIS components is the synergy between desktop and web GIS. Therefore, the second part of the workshop is about using desktop GIS as a user friendly administraton tool for the GDI.
